Today's post is about social media like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. Should kids be allowed on social media?
Kids are allowed to have social media to communicate with friends. Social media is way for relatives far away to communicate, like me. Skype and FaceTime help me talk and see my family and cousins. It can also help update people on fundraisers and ways to get involved in their community.
But social media has its downsides, too. More time spent on the internet can reduce family time, and therefore interfere with activities. It can cause kids to be lazy and irresponsible. Their eyes can get strained and soon they would need glasses.
So, should kids be allowed on social media? My answer is yes. If kids can manage the time spent on posting pictures on Instagram and such, they should be allowed. But they should be aware that social media is a privilege, and therefore can be taken away. The real decision is upon the parents. If parents think their kids are irresponsible or are not mature enough to surf on the internet by themselves, don't let them.
Do you agree or disagree? Answer in the comments!
Yes I agree until unless the child does not misuse the social privilege
